Baby Contortionist!!

Since Bailey was born we have noticed that she bends her arms and legs in wierd directions. She always as her arms twisted almost all the way around. I think she is double jointed. They do go back to normal, but for some reason she is comfortable with them twisted. Well now that she is getting bigger and more mobile she is getting out of control. She wiggles out of EVERYTHING even if she is buckled in!! I usually put her in her bouncer on the bathroom floor while I take a shower, but now I cant do it becuase somehow she twists her way out and ends up on the floor. The other day we put her in her swing and I ran outside to find Ellie and I came back to find her with her feet up in the air and her head down in the crack of the swing (where her bum should be) and having a hard time breathing because she was pinching her airway...Scared me to death. Then there is the bumbo which is suppose to be so great cause they can sit them on the counter to watch you and they cant get out.....well not Bay! Somehow she twists her legs around and pushes her way out, she has almost ended up on her head several times.

So yesterday ended up being a bit of a crazy day....We were headed to Grandma and Grampa Todds who live less than a block from us. I was hauling a bunch of stuff over to there house and couldnt carry it all and Bailey at the same time. So I set her in the car seat and loaded up the car. Well you would think that with them living so close we could get there safely so I didnt buckle her, I was to distracted. (bad idea!) Anyway I loaded up and started to head out, well my mind was on not spilling the food I had in the car and Ellie who was taking pictures of the inside of the car with my new camera, so I backed out of the driveway carefully and somehow slammed into a parked car across the street! So after going and confessing to the neighbors, and exchanging insurance information we made it safely one whole block away to Grandmas house. Once we got there I started hauling in my stuff and left Bailey in her seat while I went in and out. Once again bad idea! I took some stuff in and stopped to vent about my amazing driving skills and was headed back out, when I was greeted at the door by Nates grandma who was holding Bailey. She had just happened to pull up and be on her way inside when she heard a screaming baby and went to find Bailey who had somehow rolled over in her carseat and was stuck face down screaming her head off. Seriously how does she do that?? Well needless to say I look like a great mom, I really am in the running for mom of the year! I am thinking I might have to start using duct tape to keep her under control.

What happened...

Last Friday happened to be the schools emergency evacuation drill so I had to go and pick up the kids from school (which by the way is a joke!) Anyway when I went to get Luke, he pointed out the kid that he was so worried about and took me over to introduce me. He said Mom this is my friend Jayden the one that I cried about. Anyway later when we got home he told me how he talked to him and he had all his friends go find him and sit by him at lunch. He said they were sneaky about it and inconspicuously all sat at the table next to him so they could talk to him. He said that he played with him at recess and he was SO nice, and he didn't even talk to him...He just said his name and his teachers name. I guess that makes him nice if he doesn't talk?? So I guess they are friends now, so hopefully they will continue to be.

Such a sensitive kid....

My Luke is such a sensitive kid, I am assuming he gets that from me. I am such a cry baby, it really doesn't take much to get my get me balling. I just have to see someone cry and I join right in. Anyway my sweet Luke and I were doing his homework together when he started to tell me about a boy that he noticed at recess that doesn't have anyone to play with. I said that's sad you should ask him to play and then I went back to his homework. Luke said but mom I see him every recess and he is all alone. He said I watch him walk back and forth across the play ground every recess and he never has anyone to play with. So we started to talk about it and Luke started getting choked up. He said, I saw him rubbing his eyes the other day and I think he was kinda crying. He then said, he has brown skin but that's fine I still want to play with him. (I really hope that's not why he doesn't have anyone to play with). Apparently this is something he has been noticing for awhile and it has really been bothering him. I asked him why he hasn't asked him to play with him and his buddies and he said I don't know his name and I am kinda nervous. He said he followed him around the playground for awhile trying to ask him to play but he was always behind him. So we came up with a plan for him to wait for him to be walking back towards Luke so that he can approach him and ask him his name and see if he wants to play with him and his buddies. So I guess we will see what happens today after school gets out. I love that he is aware of other peoples feelings. I hope that he never grows out of that!

Sticks and Stones and the biggest kid in 1st grade!

Seriously two posts in a row, its a record! Anyway I had to post the latest at the Todd house! Last Friday my friend was picking up my kids from school and called me to tell me that Luke had been hurt and she was on her way to bring him home. I met her in the drive way and Luke was crying really hard. He normally doesnt get to worked up when he is hurt unless it is really bad. So he went on to tell me that he was playing at recess when "the biggest kid in the 1st grade pushed him down". He did add that it was a accident but he fell and hurt his arm. So we jumped in the car and headed to the insta care where it was apparently the place to be that day. It was packed full of hacking coughing people, people going into shock from injuries and to top it off a man walked in that cut his leg open with a chain saw (would you really go to the insta care for that). Anyways after a two hour wait and probably catching every nasty sickness going around right now we got Lukes arm x-rayed and it was officially broken. He has a "buckle fracture" just above his wrist. He was really tough and let them wrap it up and they said they couldnt cast it until the swelling went down. So he went home all bandaged up with a sling and all. Who would have thought a broken arm would be so cool, but when we got home his wonderful friends all greeted him with balloons and candy. After that all the kids wanted broken arms. Anyway he finally got the real cast today and went back to school to show it off. He was a little disappointed at how small the cast was. He said he wasnt sure how he was going to fit all the signatures of his friends on such a small cast. He was right, he came home with a whole lot of signatures. Then again 1st graders do seem to write kinda big!

Catching up......Back to school!

So the first day of school was a few weeks ago and I have yet to post my pictures of that so I guess better late than never. But I decided I have so much to catch up on that I might as well start working on what happens from here on out or I will just never blog again. I may throw in a few old events so I have them for my own memories. But anyways here we go.... Luke and Ellie started school again a few weeks ago and Luke for one is really liking it. He is in first grade so that means all day long, it also means school lunch. His favorite so far is the pizza but if they don't like the main dish then they can have a yogurt or a pb and j...Almost everyday I ask him what he ate and its the same old... Yogurt and a chocolate milk. So healthy! He was also the star of the week this week so we got to make a poster all about him! He is in the Spanish immersion class so he has English half the day and the other half is all in Spanish. His Spanish teacher speaks almost no English so they have no choice but to learn it. He rarely speaks Spanish at home so to hear him speak it at school is hilarious, he has a little Spanish accent. He is doing really well with it and seems to be enjoying it.

Then there is Ellie, she reminded me a few weeks before school started that I cried when Luke went to Kindergarten and asked me if I was going to cry when she went. I said of course, it makes me sad when you will be gone during the day and that you are getting so big so fast. Well the first day of school came and they are all lining up to go in and I start getting emotional and then Ellie's melt down began..... Holy cow was it a nightmare! So needless to say my tears went away and the frustration kicked in. She was hanging on to my arm for dear life and was not about to go into that school without me. I was doing everything in my power to pry her off of me. Anyway I finally got her in and her bag hung up and I escaped. After she got home she told me how much fun it was and how she loved it. Then the next time we did the whole thing again, melt down and all! So now my dear friend Shannon takes her to school because I apparently cant...When I take her we have a complete come-apart but not even a single tear if Shannon does. Seriously I don't get it! Hopefully sometime soon I will be able to take my own daughter to school. Other than that, Ellie seems to be really liking it. She is also in the Spanish immersion program but she has the same teacher for both English and Spanish. She is more willing to speak Spanish at home, so it is fun to hear what she is learning. I cant believe how fast they are both growing and how smart they are!

Oh my gosh.....My sister in law Ann came down on Friday to get her hair done and while she was hear she did the cutest little photo shoot of Bailey. I cant wait to see all the pics, but she put a little sneak peek of them on her photography blog. Check them out at http://anniemationsphotography.blogspot.com/. They are to die for! BTW, she really is sitting in the cup its not a photo shop trick! (people keep asking)
